Steinhouse, Tobie
 
Biography: Born in Montreal.

Education:

Art studies at Sir George Williams' University. In 1946, spends time at the Arts Student's League in New-York. In 1948, establishes herself in Paris where she will remain until 1957. In 1958, comes back to Canada to keep on her works in etching with l'Atelier Libre de Recherches Graphiques, in Montréal. Meanwhile, she will often go back to Europe for numerous shows, groups or solos.

Steinhouse has won many awards, namely in 1963, the Jessie Dow Award from Montréal Museum of Fine Arts and the Sterling Trust Award from the Canadian Society of Painters-Etchers. In 1967, she was honoured by the Canadian Government and received the centennial medal.
